This is a 2007 Collings DS2H in excellent condition signed around the label by Bill Collings. They have light play wear including several pick marks plus some small finish cracks on the bass side. These cracks have been in the conclusion only, not in the wood. This can be the original 12-fret dreadnought shape, first designed as an oversized Hawaiian guitar almost century ago. Collings retained the shape and wide neck with slotted headstock from that bygone era. However, the DS models are thoroughly modern guitars using a unique sound almost all their own. The longer body, together with the bridge closer to the midst of the low bout, delivers an open, airy tone with smoothness and warmth not typically found in modern, 14-fret dreadnoughts. Whether flatpicked or played fingerstyle, these guitars have a great deal of headroom as well as the wide dynamic range invites sets from mellow accompaniment to biting leads. Always enthusiastic about trades for vintage Martin or Gibson acoustics.
