Ibanez ASB 180 Bass, made in China in the mid-2000s. This is a short scale bass, which has a double cutaway semi-hollow maple body, and a set 3-piece neck of maple and mahogany, with a rosewood fretboard. They have two pickups, a “mudbucker” in the neck, which delivers huge deep bass tone, along with a brighter pickup on the bridge for versatility of tones. These days it is strung with flatwound strings for optimum “old style thump,” however with roundwounds it might get downright twangy.
It is a beautiful instrument in a sunburst finish, with binding and purfling which accents its classic look, also it plays wonderfully. If you want this type of bass, you must check this place out. When you have any doubts about Chinese construction, you’ll be blown away by the workmanship. It is really an instrument you will be proud to experience onstage. Similar basses by Gibson and Guild are much more costly, assuming they’re even available.
In excellent, super-clean condition. Any spots in photos come from light glare.
